Which are the most important international trade shows held in Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is one of the most important cities in german and hosts several highly significant international trade events every year, attracting thousands of visitors from all over europe and the world.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to what can be considered the main trade shows held in the exhibition halls of the Düsseldorf fairgrounds. For each one, we’ll look at its characteristics and organization.

GIFA

Held every four years towards the end of June, it focuses primarily on plants and machinery for the foundry industry.

With over 1,000 exhibitors, the event offers the opportunity to present innovations, systems, solutions, and technologies to a global audience, which has averaged around 50,000 visitors per edition over the years.

Wire

Wire is the international trade fair for technologies and equipment dedicated to the production of all types of cables.

It is held biennially, usually at the end of March or early April. Exhibitors showcase machinery, connection components, and innovative materials for the latest generation of cable production, suitable for both analog and digital applications.

Each edition attracts an average of 40,000 visitors, with a very high satisfaction rate thanks to the opportunity to gain information, meet new partners, grow their business, and discover all the latest developments in the field.

Tube

The International Trade Fair for Tube Production and Processing Technologies is also held every two years, simultaneously with Wire.

It has become a benchmark for companies in the automotive sector, infrastructure design, oil and gas pipelines, and renewable energy projects, just to name a few — always with a focus on the future.

Numbers are comparable to Wire, with approximately 30,000 visitors attending each edition to explore the offerings of more than 1,200 exhibitors.

Aluminium

Let’s continue our journey through the major events at the Düsseldorf fairgrounds with Aluminium, the international trade fair dedicated to lightweight metals.

Held every two years during the first week of October, it attracts around 27,000 visitors from Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Russia, the United States, Canada, and Japan, who come to meet over 1,000 aluminum industry specialists. Visitors attend to discover market innovations, generate new contacts, fulfill sourcing objectives, and form new partnerships.

Conferences, meetings, presentations of the latest technological advancements, and a high percentage of decision-makers in attendance have made Aluminium the world’s leading event for the sector.

Medica

We conclude our overview of the most important international trade fairs held in Düsseldorf with Medica – The World Forum for Medicine.

Taking place every year in November, Medica spans four days during which scientific research takes center stage. Across more than 110,000 square meters of exhibition space, over 120,000 visitors from around the world connect with 5,000 exhibitors.

From electromedical equipment to laboratory devices, physiotherapy to orthopedics, IT technology, essential supplies, and diagnostics — exhibitors cover all the most important topics in the vast medical field.

We’ve now reached the end of our journey through the halls of the Düsseldorf exhibition center.
